VPN
Step 1: Download FortiClient
- Go to the official Fortinet website:
- Scroll down to the FortiClient VPN-Only option (free version).
- Choose the correct version for your operating system:
- Windows
- Mac
- Linux
- iOS / Android (for mobile devices)
- Download and install the FortiClient software following the on-screen instructions.
Step 2: Configure FortiClient VPN
- Open FortiClient after installation.
- Click on “Configure VPN” (if prompted).
- Choose “SSL-VPN”.
- Enter your company’s VPN details (provided by IT):
- VPN Name: (e.g., Ashworth/GoGladys VPN)
- Remote Gateway: ashworth-remote.ies-ny.com
- Customize Port: 10443
- Username & Password: (Use your company credentials)
- Click Apply or Save.
Step 3: Connect to VPN
- Go back to the FortiClient main screen.
- Select your newly created VPN profile.
- Click Connect and enter your username and password (if required).
- Once connected, you will see a “VPN Connected” confirmation.
Step 4: Access Your Company ShareFile (From a Mac)
- Open a Finder and Go -> Connect to Server… menu
- Enter smb://10.10.85.10/ in the Connect to Server box (click + to add to Favorite Servers).
- Log in using the same Username and Password as the VPN.
- Feel free to remember this in the “Keychain”.
- Once logged in, you should have access to the files and folders shared with you.
Troubleshooting Tips
- If you can’t connect, verify that your VPN credentials and gateway URL are correct.
- If ShareFile doesn’t load, confirm that the VPN is actively connected before accessing it.
